What sits in the core collection

These are the classic cuts rather than the trend pieces. Think a straight or wide leg pant in black or navy, a plain skirt, a dress that works under a jacket, a simple shirt and a fine knit. Each one earns its place because it pairs with most of what is already in your wardrobe. If you are starting from nothing, begin with a pair of work pants and a blazer, then add tops and dresses around them.

How to build a working week from it

Two pairs of pants and one skirt in black or navy, plus three or four tops that work with all of them, will cover a week without a repeat. A blazer over the top turns any of those combinations into a meeting outfit; take it off and the same pieces are right for a casual Friday. One dress covers the days you do not want to think about separates at all. From there, colour and print can come in through tops, scarves and jewellery while the base stays the same.

Because these pieces are worn on repeat, they are made in fabrics that hold their shape: suiting blends with a little stretch, ponte and crepe for tailoring and dresses, cotton and poplin for shirts, and fine knits for layering. Fits run from slim through straight to wide leg, so you can choose the line that suits you rather than the one that happens to be in fashion. Everything comes in sizes 4 to 18.
